New Books added to our website!

We have recently added 3 new books to our website!  These books are available at our online bookstore and at the Talbot Library and Museum.

A very interesting book about the infamous Second Battle of Cabin Creek that took place in the Cherokee Nation, now Northeastern Oklahoma September 19, 1864.

This book is a fine overview of the beautiful Cherokee patterned baskets, and their weavers.

Dr. McCullagh has done extensive research on female Seminary graduates. 188 young women graduation from the Seminary between 1879 and 1910. 20 of them never married, seven died at a young age. This book concentrates on the lives of the 20 that did not marry, many went on to prominent educational and professional accomplishments.

Pryor Creek, originally named Cooy-y-yah (Cherokee for huckleberry) was incorporated as a city in 1894. Pryor is the county seat of Mayes County, Oklahoma. It has a rich history dating from early days in Indian Territory.
