This volume reflects the years of great change within the Cherokee Nation and the end of an era at the Moravians’ Springplace mission. The Cherokees are seeing the need to adopt new ways; a new town, New Echota, is called the “permanent seat of government”. This time period also sees the death of Margaret Ann Scott Crutchfield-(Sister Peggy), widow of Chief James Vann, and Sister Anna Rosina Gambold . Many changes are taking place within the Cherokee Nation as well as Springplace Mission. The next books in the series will be subtitled “March to Removal”.
