Spring Work Day at Talbot Library and Museum!

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, we had a great group of volunteers that came out and did many hours of hard work! This group was able to rake leaves, pick up old tree limbs and twigs, cut down one of our trees, blew out the Adair Building and burned debris. A little fun and creativity was thrown into the day when the tree strump (from cut down tree) was used to carve a "slim Jim" bear! Word has it the bear was fully completed on Sunday, the next day! (See the wonderful photo of this carving! Thanks, Ken Macken!) Now the grounds are ready for spring and summer lawncare maintenance!

After they all worked up an appetite, the group fellowshipped and had late lunch together at Green Gate! Thanks so much to this group of hard workers! We are so appreciative. Included in our group, we hired three wonderful young men to help us: Jaylan Mendoza, Trent Wofford, and Hayden Martin. These young men attend Leach schools and are in the 8th grade. They are raising funds for their 8th grade trip! Thank you boys! Our volunteers included: Gerald Hurt, Elzie and Anne Cherry, Malia and Ken Macken, and Malia's mom, Rachael Martin. Thank you so much for the hard work!
