In honor of recent "March Madness", we are spotlighting a great memory from our TL&M Genealogy Magazine found in our 2003 Issue #1 Volume XI.

Party Is Held For Basketball Girls

Mrs. Ralph Henry, coach of the Siloam Springs High School Pantherettes during the 1936-37 season, entertained the members of the team last night with a party at her home on South College street.

Both the hostess and the guests were given surprises during the evening, the first one occurring when the girls presented a vanity case to Mrs. Henry; a jar of candy to their mascot, Narcia Lee Henry; and an initialed leather belt to Mr. Henry who acted as scorekeeper during the basketball season.

The reason for the party was divulged when Mrs. Henry presented to each of the girls an individual girls’ basketball medal, gold plated, to be worn on a ribbon around one’s neck. These medals were made possible through liberal donations from various ball fans, Mrs. Henry explained.

Various games kept the guests entertained for the remainder of the evening which was concluded by the serving of fruit salad with whipped cream, cake and coffee.

Those present were Ercille Sims, Katherine Henry, Ruby Phelps, Mary Nell Durham, Joan Armour, Helen Bergenstal, Ruth Douthit, Theda Kriewitz, Jewell Howell, Lola Belle Herren, Eileen Pruitt. Pauline Meyers, who was absent from the party, will receive one of the medals.
